The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will mark the 34th edition of Africa's premier international tournament for national teams. The competition will be held in Côte d'Ivoire during January and February 2024, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) selected the country as the host country on September 20, 2014.

How is the tournament schedule distributed?

The group stage will consist of six groups ("A" through "F"). Each group will have four participants, making up the 24 teams competing for the title.

The round of 16 will pit the top and second-place teams from each group against each other, along with the four best third-place teams.

The quarterfinals will feature the eight winners of the qualifying round.

The semi-final will consist of two matches, from which the finalists will be determined.

The final will proclaim the new African champion.

When does the tournament start?

The tournament will begin on January 13, 2024, with the Ivory Coast vs. Guinea-Bissau match, and the group stage will continue the following day with the remaining matches. The final will be played on February 11.

The final group stage match will be played on January 22, 23, and 24.

The round of 16 will be played on January 27, 28, 29, and 30.

The quarterfinals will take place on February 2 and 3.

The semi-final only includes two matches, both of which will take place on February 7.

The final , from which the next African champion will emerge, will take place on February 11.

Ball: On 12 October 2023, CAF and Puma unveiled "Pokou" as the official match ball for this year's tournament ahead of the final tournament draw. The name was chosen in honour of the late legendary Ivorian striker Laurent Pokou, known locally for scoring a record-breaking five goals in the 6-1 win over Ethiopia in the 1970 edition of the tournament.

Mascot: The organizing committee of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations unveiled "Akwaba," which means "Welcome" in the Baoulé language. It is an elephant, the animal symbol of Côte d'Ivoire. Its uniform resembles Côte d'Ivoire's local colors.

Official Song : On October 12, 2023, CAF unveiled the competition's official song during the official draw. The song featured Nigerian singer Yemi Alade, MTV Award winner, Egyptian rapper Mohamed Ramadan, and Ivorian music band Magic System. Titled "Akwaba," meaning "Welcome" in the native Baoulé language, the anthem is a stirring fusion of Afrobeat, rap, and zouglou into a unique musical blend that remains deeply rooted in the tradition of the competition's previous anthems.
